Award Season So Far: Peoples Choice & The Golden Globes

We break down award season for 2013…so far. Let’s start with The People’s Choice Awards first, then, we’ll move over to the Glam Golden Globes!

The People Choice Awards…

The People’s Choice Awards launched Awards Season this year and many trends we saw last year have made a strong return. Color is still in the lead! Glee Actress, Lea Michele showed off her he tanned stems in a pink-sparkle mini dress. This dress really suited her fun, performer personality. Probably one of our favorite looks on her since we’ve been watching her red carpet appearances.  Actress Rachael Leigh Cook looked so cool in this lovely aqua floor length gown! The dress had so much moved and flowed down the red carpet. The bold statement necklace and simple hair style only complimented the overall look. Country crooner Taylor Swift is really working hard at breaking the usual ‘Taylor Swift‘ mold. Embracing her height and slender body, Taylor impressed in this low-cut, white gown. She reminded us of on of our favorite, Blake Lively. Loved the aqua blue earrings too. The lesson here is, ALWAYS try to add a pop of color, even if it’s a simple accessory.

The Golden Globe Awards…

The Golden Globes are considered to be one of the most glamorous red carpets of all, only outdone by The Oscars. We were watching certain stars, like Ann Hathaway, but she didn’t win us this time in beaded white. Sorry, but it didn’t flatter her shape the way most of her outfits usually do. Here are some ladies who kept us watching as they moved down the red carpet. Funny lady and co-host, Amy Poehler wore a Lady Tux to start the evening and we LOVED IT. The only thing that beats a man in a suit is a woman in a suit. She kept things feminine with hot, strappy heels and plunging neckline exposing some elegant bling. Actress Claire Danes, who picked up a Gold Globe herself, thrilled us in RED, which seemed to be a favorite this year. The dress is a simple cut, but the fit was perfect. Actress and a fashion favorite, Kate Hudson was probably one of our ABSOLUTE favorites of the night. Great fit, and lovely hardware to compliment that plunging neckline. During the show, Kate pulled her hair back, which only helped the dress. That neckline could not be ignored! Scandal star, Kerry Washington, was a bunch of Diamonds In The Sky, literally! Wearing adorable bangs, Kerry was wearing the right dress. What else can be said of a woman covered in sparkle and shine? Actress Lucy Lui was the Fashionably Brave Star of the night. Taking a huge risk, Lucy took a trend and wore it ALL OVER. Yes, you could easily say, “She looks like she’s wearing a bed comforter,” but the shape of the dress is gorgeous. It’s a shame it wasn’t a solid, or more delicate print. We understand the fish-tail braid is ‘in’, but it didn’t really work with this look for Lucy either. Kudos to her though, as she tried to do something different. Actress Michelle Dockery looked so royal in this simple, yet Baroque gown. We loved her overall look! Her hair was perfect for the dress and the fitting here was right on. It’s always a shame when fit RUINS the look of an outfit, so make sure you have our special wardrobe pieces altered.  Designer and reality star, Nicole Richie is a retro fashion fan, so it was no surprise to see her pull some inspiration from the 1970’s in light blue and bold, fun makeup. The look suited her very well. Can everyone do this? Alas, No. But if retro or vintage is your thing, take a modern twist on it like Nicole did here.
