Jill Sander’s Fall 2022 RTW Line that showed this past February was a dream. Instead of following the trends (ode to Y2K), Sander’s Creative directors, Lucie and Luke Meier made clothes for a more mature, elegant crowd. With that said, it can be worn by the teenager who wants to pay homage to Blair Bass (Waldorf), all the way to the fashionable, mature woman who owns a gorgeous penthouse on billionaires Row.
For this collection, they were thinking about elegance: Speaking about the collection backstage, Lucie said “We really wanted to focus on sculptural tailoring, almost couture-like, but we like this new energy, a very cropped silhouette.”
You can definitely see that in the collection. it has a ’60s minimalism feel, which we really enjoy. They wanted to “focus on sculptural tailoring, coming close to a couture-like look, but with new energy, a very cropped silhouette.”
There were long, softer lengths as well, including on a group of black dresses with beautiful details like the deep-v neckline or voluminous bell sleeves— Elegance all around.
The show itself was also very minimal, with no bells or whistles. It was all in a tan/taupe colour room, with floor-to-ceiling drapes. We assume that was to make sure that the focus was on the clothes and not on the venue. The footwear that the models wore was also beautiful and functional. Boots, cute low to mid heels. The boots and heels could be worn with anything.
Our favourite part? Most of the collection can be worn modestly, which is what we’re all about.
