Prada FALL 2023 RTW (Video)

We’ll be honest, when we first heard that Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons would start working together for Prada in 2020, we weren’t quite sure how that would look. Raf had his own line at the time and was creative director for a few brands before, it didn’t always end well. His vision of fashion is an acquired taste.

Nonetheless, Miuccia herself wanted Raf to come on board and collaborate with the brand and to be even more honest, we’ve liked the past few collections they’ve put out together. We assume that things are going really well since Raf (after 27 years) closed down his fashion line.

As for the collection this year for FW23, the vision according to Prada was:

To examine uniforms, and by extension to honor the humble, caring acts of the people who wear them. Nurses’ whites got a thorough consideration, transformed into long-line shirt dresses complete with short trains, and a trio of capes could’ve been lifted off a World War II era recruitment poster for the army nurse corps. – Vouge.com

The military essence was defiantly there. Uniforms, parkas, “shirts and ties tucked into high-fitting tapered trousers looked definitive”. We loved how the skirts had beautiful origami fabric flowers on them. The parka skirts were terrific, living in Canada, those skirts come in handy. We also really loved the pastel colours, the flat pointed-toe shoes, and the pebbled leather jackets with their pops of colours.

It was a great show, for a more in-depth look into this collection check out our video below (make sure to like, share and subscribe to our channel)
