Bravo to Valentino.
Pierpaolo Piccioli took Valentino to Rome’s Spanish Steps and gave us a show we’ll never forget. Valentino’s Fall 2022 Couture Show was so stunning that I could not take my eyes off the screen it was that beautiful, that magical and that good.
The location by itself was gorgeous with architecture so rich with history, plus the beautiful vocals from Labrinth whose voice echoed through the sunset-filled sky as gorgeous couture creations began to descend down 136 steps of the staircase. Thankfully, no models were injured, all of them were wearing either flats or low heels. They didn’t run down the stairs, they floated, so you could see every detail.
The colours, the styles, the shapes. This show (along with Schiaparelli) reminded me of how important Couture is, it’s art. Taking fabrics and embellishments, turning them into something that is so mesmerizing and one of a kind. Or taking a look at past seasons and turning it on its head to bring out a different style. Pure Beauty.
The moment I saw the first look come down the Spanish Steps I knew this was going to be quite the show and I was right. I was not disappointed at all. I love Valentino, they’re one of my favourite designer houses along with YSL and Balmain. Valentino brought so much imagination to this collection and I embraced it. I want to wear one of the feather halos…don’t ask me where I’d wear it too, I’ll find somewhere to wear it lol.
The entire display defiantly hit a high note with critics, fashion insiders and Anna Wintour who was the first person to give a standing ovation… That’s major. The house of Valentino hit this one right out of the park.
It was a wonderful display, I encourage you to watch it yourself. It was one of the highlights of couture fashion week. In total, there were 102 looks, I narrowed it down to 43, take a look below at some of our favourite looks from the show.
