Lip Care with Victoria Fedosoff ‘The Beauty Insider’!
Now that we are coming into the heart of winter, the cold and dryness can really take a toll on our lips. There’s nothing worse then going to apply your favorite lip color
and having a dry flaky disaster. Just like our skin, you want your lips to be well- hydrated with a smooth base for a flawless application.
Follow these three simple steps and you’ll be on your way back to those luscious lips in no time!
Step 1:
Exfoliate before bed
I like to make my own scrub using a tsp of honey mixed with 1/2 tsp of brown sugar. There’s also the old dry toothbrush trick. Just gently rub your lips with one until you rid off all the dead skin cells. Both options work great just depends what your preference is.
Step 2:
Hydrate
Find a favorite lip balm and coat your lips with it before bed. I usually like to use more then I regularly would in the day time, as it has all night to really soak in
and hydrate throughout the night.
Step 3:
Continue to apply your favorite lip balm throughout the day, let it soak in and then apply your lip stick for long lasting hydration.
Remember that not all lip balms are actually doing your pout any good. Always check the ingredients and stay clear of products that contain any menthol, alcohol or
Salicylic acid which can be marketed to help slough off dead skin, but can actually end up drying your lips out.
Our lips do not contain melanin so it is important to use a balm which also contains a sunscreen to protect against UV rays.
My two favorite balms on the the market right now are Kiehls #1 Lip balm and EOS, which uses 95% organic ingredients and is 100% natural.
Stick with these tips, drink a lot of water and say goodbye to those chapped lips!
