COVER IT: Lisa Fonssagrives on VOGUE

Lisa Fonssagrives was a Swedish fashion model and she was credited as the first supermodel because of her popularity with photographers. Here, she graced the cover of VOGUE magazine, May 1 1950.

So lady-like and proper! When was the last time you put on a dainty diamond necklace for daytime wear? This image reminds us so much of what being a woman was about. From Lisa’s curl-set hair to her red finger tips, every single detail was finished and polished. You can smell her perfume and hand lotion just by looking at the cover. Of course, most women today rather the freedom of bed-head and ripped jeans, but wouldn’t it be nice to be a full on Lady, by 1950s standards, for one day? We’re also a huge fan of the lace trim bracelet! Classic.
