World MasterCard Fashion Week: Adrian Wu

We remember watching Adrian Wu‘s debut Word MasterCard Fashion Week presentation last year (2011) at this time. It only seemed like yesterday, that this young designer had people questioning what he would do to impress the fashion industry. We believe Adrian has now found his space and aesthetic within an industry where dreams are born, grow into reality, but then can be killed due to pressure from high industry standards and competition. Titled, Dystopia, the presentation took inspiration from the 1960s, set to the retro sounds of a female vocalist and piano accompaniment. Using only polyurethane to design the dress silhouettes, the collection was quite feminine and simple. This was a fresh approach to Adrian Wu’s known style as it was artistic, but visually beautiful in sculpture. The shapes and colors mixed with bee-hive hair do’s and cat-eye frames made for a memorable show.
