No one on the corner’s got swagga like her! M.I.A. is the British- Sri Lankan recording artist that got everyone going after Madonna‘s Super Bowl performance with her middle figure action, but M.I.A. isn’t one to shy away from attention. Her music style isn’t easily defined, which we love! Her music is a combination of electronica, dance, alternative, hip hop and world music. Starting out as a visual artist and designer who had dealt with turmoil during the Sri Lankan civil war, MIA (Missing In Action) launched into a musical career in 2002. Once the UK and Canada got a taste of this singer/songwriter/activist with SunShowers and Galang she’s been on the rise. We instantly remember M.I.A. at the Grammy Awards nine months pregnant, risking her life (and her unborn baby’s life) to fly States side to perform with TI, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne in the iconic hit Swagga Like Us, inspired by her hit Paper Planes. By the way, she was blessed with a beautiful healthy baby boy only a few hours later. We can expect a new album this summer, while we enjoy her latest single, Bad Girls. The Fashion World loves M.I.A. just as much as the music industry does. She’s been an influencer and collaborator with many highly regarded designers.
